Just stuff

– Our wedding photos are supposed to take 8 – 12 weeks. We just passed the two month mark. And I’m pretty much dying for the next 4 weeks to pass so I can get my hands on them. The sneak peaks were awesome.

– My excitement over my thank you cards makes me want to do holiday cards. But that requires us getting “family photos” taken. And I’ve kinda let myself go since the wedding, and I feel fat. So maybe next year?

– Jeff and I are finally getting to work on “finishing” our basement. One room at a time. Which means that three years from now we may still be talking about it. But, first on the list, which will definitely see some real progress in the next few months, is our laundry room. You know you’re an adult when laundry rooms excite you. But basically, I’m dying to have a clean, organized (and pretty, sorry Jeff) space to sort and wash all of the things. Its not going to be the largest room, and its going to double as a mudroom so we are definitely going to have to get creative about keeping it bright, and open and still have lots of storage and function. This one from iHeartOrganizing is kind of my inspiration.

– We get maybe 10-15 trick or treaters. So Halloween isn’t really an exciting time around here. I have zero decorations up. This year I planned to get out of the house during the trick or treating and I didn’t have any candy picked up. My plans fell through so I had to ask Jeff to buy some goodies for him. I reminded him that we didn’t need much, just enough to not have to turn off all of the lights and hide when kids came up the driveway. I came home from work to find four boxes. My waistline is not impressed.

– Have you seen the new show, Pitch? If not, and you like sports even the slightest bit, or even if you don’t, you should check it out. Sooooo good.

– Thanks to this post by Karli, I decided to order our wedding thank you cards from Minted. And you guys, I’m soooo freakin’ excited for them to get here. Fingers crossed they turn out as awesome as I expect.

– I used to love when Jeff worked night shifts. It was a great time to catch up on all my girly shows, and be lazy. These days though, I’d gladly give up the shows, for evenings doing anything at all with him. Basically our love is pretty gross right

– I’m a sucker for most things plaid. I NEED to own these. Seriously, Jeff, if you’re reading this, I’ll take a pair for Christmas. Size 8.

End of ramble.

From Coveting Life this week:

– Where I’m at

Where I’m At

Dressed head to toe in #WinnersFabFinds. Similar shoes here.

Its 10:05 and I sat down to work at this post like 3 hours ago. And I’m just now finally typing the first words.

The thing is, I’m not really sure where to start. I’ve never really been awesome at this blogging game. But I want to be. And I psych myself out on the regular.

A lot of things have happened since my last post in July. So maybe instead of some long winded soliloquy I’ll just make a list. Lists are cool right?

– I found myself an awesome gym buddy. Meg. She rocks. And she helped whip my ass into shape. I lost a few pounds. My wedding dress fit. And then I put em all back on, indulging in all of my favorite terrible things the past 8 weeks. Here’s to getting back in the gym very soon.

– Speaking of wedding dresses. I got married. It was almost everything I had dreamed it would be. All the let downs aside, it was still the best day of my life.

– The night before our wedding, my guy gave me this Kate Spade necklace that I have been swooning over for years. Admittedly, he may have had a little help with the idea. But its the thought that counts. Thanks Megan 😉

– Jeff and I have yet to go on a honeymoon. Not because we didn’t want one or desperately need a vacation. But because Jeff’s property maintenance business was still in the heights of its busy season. And extended time away just wasn’t possible.

– We did go on a bit of a minimoon to St. John’s. It was short. But it was amazing to get out of town for a few days.

– We chose our minimoon date entirely based on when Bed Bath and Beyond would be giving us 20% off the entire store as a thank you for having our registry with them. Highly recommend it.

– Thankgiving (for us Canadians) has came and went. I had three, yes three, turkey dinners. And now I’m okay with no turkey until Christmas.

– My cousin bought a house and I helped her do some amazing renovations and turn it into a wicked vaction/short term rental.

– I went on my very first work trip. It was as great experience, but I did learn that I need to invest in a pantsuit. There is really nothing worst than sitting in a conference with a bunch of your peers feeling terribly inferior and under dressed.

– I grew tired of having limp, no volume, lifeless hair. And I decided to get a perm. (You probably know that if you follow me on Snapchat). And I walked out of the salon less $200, and with straight hair. I was not pleased. My stylist suggest trimming a few inches off to see if having less weight would put a little spring into it. 4-6 inches later, still no curl. So, there will likely be another go at the perm in the near future.

– Jeff turned 29 last week. So I got all of his friends together for a Lumberjack Bash to celebrate on Saturday. Complete with freebie decorations I found on Pinterest. Sure whoever made them intended they be used for a toddlers birthday, but that’s okay.

I feel like there’s more. But I’m drawing a blank. So, cheers to being back. Lets hope its for longer this time.

10 Things On A Friday

How beautiful is my current view of Corner Brook Harbour.

– Jeff and I had been planning to have a delayed honeymoon. Perhaps a trip to Florida in February or March. But no we’re thinking we would like to have a bit of a mini-moon before that. I’ve been looking at flights to NYC. Any recommendations on where to stay or what to do while we are there (if we go)?

– It had been quite warm here the past few weeks. Too hot to sleep some nights even. But it was so cold this morning that we had to light our wood stove.

– Jeff’s parents were in town the weekend before last for his Nan’s 90th birthday. We love when they visit, especially when there’s something to celebrate while they are here.

– The last time they were in town, we celebrated our engagement, now we are one day less than two months away from the big day.

– Jeff’s dad made like five batches of fudge while he was here. My taste buds are happy, my waistline is not.

– Rowing has started up again, and being on the water again is giving me life.

– I really need to find a new lipstick to replace my Bite Beauty in Violet. Its almost completely used up, and is no longer available 🙁

– Work has been incredibly busy, incredibly frustrating, yet incredibly rewarding lately. I’m exhausted at the end of the day, hence my lack of a presence around here. But I’m hoping to find a little balance.

– Jeff had to work almost the entire long weekend. He went to work Friday morning, and I didn’t really see him again until Sunday afternoon. And that was only for 3 hours.

– It was a sunny 13 degrees here this afternoon. It certainly wasn’t tropical, but I had a lovely lunch with a coworker at Harbour Grounds. The place was so busy that we had no other choice but eat at a table on the patio. The food was so delicious that I didn’t even mind getting a bit chilly. Highly recommend checking the place out if you ever find yourself in Corner Brook.

How have you been spending your summer so far?

Lust List – Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale

Why is it that every single time I put myself on an online shopping freeze so many awesome sales have to happen? Last week Jeff and I sat down and put ourselves on a budget. With our wedding fast approaching it was necessary. And this week Nordstrom is having their Half Yearly Sale, and I can hear my credit card calling my name from my purse across the room.

Even if I can’t buy anything (or do you think Jeff would notice a few tiny purchases?), that doesn’t mean I haven’t spent the weekend browsing the sales, and dreaming.

Here are a few of the things I’m lusting after…

Olivia Moon Knit Blazer – I’m a sucker for blazers. They’re such an easy way to make a tee and pair of jeans look put together. I love this one because its lightweight and has an easy & casual feel to it, yet it looks chic. It also comes in grey and navy.

Shift Dress – I’m all about filling my closet with versatile pieces. This dress could easily be worn on its own, or with a pair of leggings. It comes in a bunch of great colors. I’m loving it in white and blue grass.

Scalloped Top – In the Summer I love wearing sleeveless tops to work under my blazer or cardigan. Its a huge plus if I can take off a layer and still be dressed appropriately for the office. The scalloped hem dresses the top up a bit which I love. It would look great with jeans or shorts.

Tee – I’m always on the hunt for chic tees, but they’re so hard to find. I want to feel comfortable, yet put together, and this tee might just do the trick.

Sam Edelman Sandals – Jeff would tell me that I definitely do not need these. He’s not a big fan of my ever growing footwear collection, especially the number of sandals I own. I love that these are casual, yet can be dressed up a bit because they have a little sparkle. They run small, so order a size up.

Kate Spade Watch – I want all of the Kate Spade things. I love a good watch. This would look great day or night, office or weekend. I think it would do a great job dressing up a tee and jeans.

Kate Spade Bag – My collection of purses/bags is nearly as extensive as my collection of shoes. I love a bright colored bag for the summer. I have a Liz Claiborne purse in a very similar color, and its just the perfect pop for neutral outfits.

Did you notice a trend? I love taking casual outfits and dressing them up a bit.
What pieces are you loving from the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale?

Sunday Lately

I’m working on updating my About Me page. It’s been needing a refresh for a while so its time to buckle down and get it done. Stay tuned for that.

So many things that I need to get done at work this week. I’m also trying to make a list of all of the wedding things I need to tackle. It’s going to be such a busy week, I don’t even know if there will be time to eat.
To take body measurements. I’ve been eating much healthier, working out and drinking a lot more water lately. I also haven’t had any Pepsi in 29 days (this is huge!), but I haven’t seen any results on the scales. Measurements will help me stay motivated, and show progress, even when the scale doesn’t. The wedding is officially less than three months away and I neeeed to lose weight (or at least to slim down) to fit into that dress.
Jeans and a sweater. It has not been tropical around these parts for the past few days.
Stressed, yet motivated. I really really want to blog more, and to get my Etsy shop updated. It just always seems like there is never enough time in the day.

Sunday Lately

Having out on the couch with Jeff relaxing and watching The Catch. The perfect way to wind down after a very full and wonderful weekend of bbqs, family suppers, and our first backyard fire of the season.
Being surrounded by great family and friends. I know what its like to live very far away from your family. And ever since I’ve moved home from Alberta, I know what its like to live very far away from your best friends. Its been nearly five years but I’m finally starting to settle in and have a group of people around me.
A lot of things lately. I’m working on some new products for my shop, putting together a plan for our backyard (it needs to look great when everyone is around at wedding time), and working on a design for my cousin’s new rental property. I’ll be sure to share all of the things when I’m done 🙂

I know its not new, and totally last year, but every time it comes on the radio it gets stuck in my head.
This is going to be a very busy week at work, and outside of work. I’m working my butt off to get things ready for rowing season, aiming to launch the new products in my shop within the next few weeks, and hoping to post a little more regularly.

Life Lately

You guys these past few weeks have been sooo busy. I feel like I haven’t stopped.

A couple weeks ago flew to Labrador City to spend the weekend with Jeff and his family and to keep him company on the drive back. Lab City, its not an awesome spot, but I am so glad I went. I got to see a lot of the province that I hadn’t seen before, and I loved spending time with Jeff’s family. They’re a blast. We couldn’t have asked for more generous and gracious hosts. I wish they lived closer.

The drive back was soooo long. Hours upon hours of nothing. A six hour long section of unpaved road. And zero cell service for a majority of the time. We left Lab City at 5am and got to our hotel in Forteau at 7pm. We showered, grabbed pizza for supper, and were asleep long before 10pm. The next day we got up at the crack of dawn, took the ferry to St. Barbe and hit the road for home. We finally pulled into our driveway around 2:30pm and I wanted to kiss the pavement in our driveway.

Last weekend Jeff and I had a fire with friends Friday night. Spent Saturday doing chores. Sunday was beautiful so we ate breakfast on the deck, hung out at the petting zoo in our back yard, and worked on a few wedding things (yay).

“These guys don’t know how close to death they really are.” – Jeff
Finally sandal weather

And this past weekend I went home to spend Mother’s Day with my Momma. Which was really really nice. And I stuffed my face with lobster and mussels for the first time this year! Sooo good.

PS. I haven’t had a can of Pepsi in 8 days. Which is huge for an addict like me. Here’s to hoping the pounds start falling off.
Have you been super busy lately too? How did you spend Mother’s Day weekend?
