Cannot Sit Still

– Wine. And the fact that its cheaper than pop. Which I feel will justify walking the streets slightly tipsy.

– The bread. I love it. Can’t wait to get my hands on it.

– Pastries. Hellloooo heaven.

– The architecture.

– The language.

– The culture.

– The shopping.

– The fashion.

– Having a reason to use my beautiful umbrella. Might jinx myself and actually get rain because of this one.

– Visiting Beaumont Hamel and paying my respects to fallen Newfoundland soldiers.

– The Eiffel Tower. I’ve been dreaming of it since I was a kid.

– My first ever train ride.

– Cappuccino at Cafe de Flore. Sooo many famous people have been there.

– Getting to see where F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway lived.

– H&M because there isn’t one here.

– The shopping. Oh wait, did I mention that already?

There are so many things that make it impossible to think of anything other than this trip. So many things that make it impossible for me to sit still. I have no idea how I am going to have a productive work week or study for my Macroeconomics midterm on Friday.

Also, I definitely will not be able to post while I’m away, but I’d really hate to leave the blog unattended for so long, so I’m looking for people to guest posts during that time. If you’re interested in hanging out here for a day or two or ten, email me at adventuresofkathryn@outlook.com.

Wish me luck for a productive week! I’m gonna need it.

Its That Time Again

Wow! I am truly overwhelmed with the response to yesterday’s post. It was by far the most comments, emails, and page views  love, I ever got in one day. And lets be honest, there were even a few weeks with far less. So thank you all, for brightening my day, making this all feel worth it, and for you stupendous advice for my trip

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming, today is Friday which happens to be my second favorite F word yo. Friday is a great day. The day you can drink guilt free, look forward to sleeping in the next morning, and justify doing nadda all evening. It also happens to be #FanFriday with Sarah, a link up I always read, but never participate in. But all that is gonna change next week friends, because her hilarious post today got the wheels turning in my head, and I’ve got some really inspired topics I’d like to talk about.

Talking about sports makes me think of exercise, which makes me think of September Goals, and since its Friday, that means its time for another update.

ONE //  I haven’t ate out AT ALL this week. Not once. Well until this morning, I had a French Vanilla and breakfast sandwich from Tim Hortons. And I don’t count that, because it was paid for with money from the recycling program at work. And I also don’t count the lunch I had with my bff, cause I paid for it with a gift card, and I hadn’t seen her in a month of Sundays so ya know, it was kind of necessary.

TWO //  Holy crap, zero shopping this week. None whatsover. No clothes, no shoes, no groceries, I did good.

THREE //  I was completely 100% unsuccessful with this one this week. Zero exercise completed, or attempted for that matter. Unless of course you course you count lying around watching my newest obsession, Chicago Fire.

FOUR //  I’m back up to 136. Not happy. But not surprised. Haven’t done much to help myself with this one this week.

FIVE //  I’ve done quite well with this one again.

SIX //  Happy to say I definitely met this goal!

And now to celebrate my moderate success with September Goals, and the fact that the work week is nearly over…

It’s #backthatazzup Friday!

The purpose: To start our weekend with some fantastic jams.
The station that inspired it: “Back That Azz Up” on Pandora Radio.
The rules: Link your jams up with Whitney and have a jam sesh with all of us!
Happy Friday!
Grab a button, pick your jam, link up and let’s get this weekend started off on the right foot!

The Countdown Is On!

For any of you who have been around here for any amount of time at all, you are very well aware that I’m going to PARIS next month, in 12 days to be exact. And I’m super excited which means there have been quite a few tweets and mentions of it in posts. Sorry, not sorry.

If you’re sick and tired of hearing about it, because you’re green with envy, then you may as well quit reading now. And I’m going to warn you, there will probably be a few more posts about it or related to it leading up to the day when I finally get on that plane. What can I say, planning and packing for trips makes for some pretty interesting blog topics. Plus, it lets me reach out to you guys for ideas and tips and things.

We booked out flights way back in January, and arranged our accommodations in the Spring, but since then we haven’t done much in the way of planning, except to make a list of the things we want to see or do while we are there.

– Visit the Eiffel Tower (le duh!)
– Visit the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo
– Visit Jim Morrison’s grave
– See Fleetwood Mac in concert
– Visit the Arc de Triomphe
– Go to Moulin Rouge
– Take a dinner cruise on the Seine
– See Notre Dame
– Visit Palace de Versailles
– Visit Vimy Ridge and Beaumont Hamel
– Have a cappuccino at Cafe de Flore
– Go to at least one designer store
– See where Hemingway lived.
– Eat an insane amount of pastries
Basically the plan is to do as much as possible while we are there, because who knows if we’ll ever get to visit again. And we probably have way more planned than we’ll ever get done, but that’s how vacation planning usually goes, isn’t it?
Have you ever been to Paris?

Do you have any ideas or tips for us? Is there anything you would recommend we do while we are there?

The Post That Was Meant to Be

Note to self: To be a successful blogger, one must make sure to schedule posts for the correct date.

I had this post ready to go for Friday, but apparently I wasn’t quite paying attention when I scheduled it. So, I updated it a little and here it is. A short and sweet September Goals update.

ONE //  I’ve done pretty well with this one. I cheated last Saturday night with some pizza after a night of many Bud Lights. And I don’t feel at all bad about that because really, it was preventative measures. If a $5 slice of pizza saves me from a hangover, its worth the money and calories. I did however cave and grab some McDs for lunch on Friday. I forgot to pack my lunch. And the oatmeal I had in my lunch bag just was not gonna cut it.

TWO //  I did great on this one. The birthday gift I bought for my mom does not count.

THREE //  Yeaaaaah. Definitely was unsuccessful at this one. I only exercised once. But I made up for it on Saturday by helping my dad out with yard work around the cabin. Not as good as cardio, but still a healthier choice than lying on the couch watching HGTV.

FOUR //  I was 138 lbs when I set these goals and Friday morning I was 135.8. Not too shabby for someone who didn’t exercise at all. Very minor lifestyle changes have occurred, and things are moving in the right direction.

FIVE //  Most days I’ve done pretty well with my water intake. Some days I have to force myself to drink more, but all in all its going well…minus the bagillion trips to the ladies room.

SIX //  To be honest, I haven’t assessed this situation for a few days, mostly because I’m scared to look at the finances, but I’ve avoided the stores like the plague, so that means things should be looking better, right?

Did you set any goals this month? How are you doing with them? Hit up the comments and let me know.

This or That

So, I’m stealing Whitney and Erin’s post idea from yesterday, because I’m super tired, and since I’ve been living and breathing work this week, I have nothing interesting to talk about, and I’m sure you do not want to hear about my adventures in Health & Safety management.

Vacationing in Florida or vacationing in NYC: I love Florida. Love Love Love. Three vacations there have not been enough. But since I’ve never been to NYC, I’ll have to go with the city that never sleeps.

iPhone or Droid: iPhone even if I’m on the fence about this new update.

NSYNC or Backstreet Boys: NSYNC. Loves me some JT.

Being forced to delete Facebook or being forced to delete Twitter: This one is a toughie, because all my IRL friends use Facebook, and all my bloggy friends use Twitter.

Fireball or Miller Lite: Miller Lite, cause I’m a beer kinda girl.

Full House or Family Matters: Full House. Uncle Jesse, get at me.

Dumbledore or Gandalf: This isn’t even a serious comparison. Since I didn’t even watch Lord of the Rings, I’m gonna go with Dumbledore

Dying Easter eggs or Carving pumpkins: Pumpkin carving. Loved doing this with my Dad when I was a kid. Still enjoy it.

NFL or NCAAF: Ummmm….can I pick the NHL instead? Go Redwings Go!

A hangover forever or sobriety forever: Sobriety, cause I’ve had some ridiculous hang overs.

January or July: July, because of no school work, and flip flops, and not freezing my ass off.

Hannah Montana or Miley Cyrus: Miley, cause her music is better than Hannah Montana’s.

Shark Week or Fashion Week: Fashion Week, every time, if I could be there in person.

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air or Saved by the Bell: And we have a tie. This one is really too tough to call. I wanted to be Kelly Kapowski and date Zack Morris. But Will was the shit. Too close to call.

Britney or Christina: It’s Britney, Bitch. And I’m totally game for a Erin’s idea of a trip to Vegas.

Burrito or Burrito Bowl: I’ve never had either. I know I know. But we don’t have a Mexican restaurant around here.

Reading blogs on your phone or reading blogs on your computer: Lately I’ve been mostly using my phone, due to the computer use monitoring going on at the place I go because I want a paycheque. But the computer is better, hands down.

Angelina or Jennifer: Jennifer. Because she didn’t let a man rush her into having kids. And because she’s Rachel. And really, Angelina is just a home-wrecking ho.

Doug Funny or The Rugrats: Rugrats fo sho. Even if that doll of Angelica’s creeped me the eff out.

An open mouth chewer or a heavy breather: Heavy breather. Because chomping teeth and smacking lips makes me want to go bat shit crazy on a mo fo. And it turns my stomach just a little. Heavy breathing can be taken care of with a pillow.

It’s Time for Weekend Shenanigans!

I’ve come to the conclusion that I love lists, for blog posts, and hate them for everything else.

And I’m really in the mood for a list today, because I’m kinda depressed that its Monday, and raining, and I just want a nap.

One – I spent the night eating pizza and hanging out on the couch watching Glee with my cousin and her daughter.

Two – And since little sis came home from school on Friday with lice, my head itched like crazy, and I got myself checked out. And then I checked out the cousins head, and proceeded to die her hair.

My “I’m scurrred I have lice” face.

Three – I woke up super early on Friday for Regatta, made my way down to the dock, stood around in the wind and rain, and waited for it to get cancelled due to Tropical Depression Gabrielle. And all I wanted to do was…

My Team: Loves It – Sponsored by Live. Breathe. Grow.

Four – After we were finalllly told that Regatta would not be going ahead, I went straight home, crawled back into bed, watched America’s Next Top Model and indulged in some Reese….mmmm.

Five – After I had a little nap, I got ready and headed out to the rowing social.

Loves It!

Six – And I ran into my long lost friend Kyle, who was home from Alberta and only in town for one night.

Seven – I wasn’t very spry on Sunday. Mostly due to lack of sleep and the insane amount of Bud Lights I drank the night before. The majority of the day was spent on the couch working on a new project, the details of which I can’t wait to share with you all tomorrow.

What did you do this weekend?

Sami's Shenanigans

Accountability

I’m jumping on the idea stealing train today. Ty made a list like this on Wednesday and I felt inspired. I’ve had a list of goals in my head for this month, but I have a tendency to make goals and then forget about them.
For that reason I’ve decided to write them down. And perhaps if I put them out there for all of you to see I’ll be more inclined to follow them through.

So there you have em. They’re pretty lofty, but I think I can do it. I’ll post updates every Friday on how I’m doing with them (brief ones I promise).

one. Bridesmaid dress shopping.
two. Yummy meals out with coworkers. And those cute retro fry baskets.
three. Taking a time out to feed the ducks at the river.
four. Morning cuddles with this precious face.
Five. Silly selfies on the mini roadie with the cousin.

And because no Friday is complete without a tune or two its time to…

Peace out trouts. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

The Curse

As per usual, the minute I make up my mind to do some serious money saving, I get in the mood to do some serious shopping. Of course, with Paris being just more than a month away, I’ll have to do my best to refrain.
Therapy Thursday

I’ve been dreaming of owning a Burberry scarf for years. And these Tory Burch boots have been on my radar from the first day I discovered Pinterest and subsequently Polyvore. A pair of legit Ray Ban wayfarers would make me jump for joy. And don’t even get me started on Kate Spade. I’m basically in love with everything they have.

Things I’ve Learned from Carrie and the Girls

Today I want to talk about Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha. The women who taught me so much about friendship, love, life, sex and shoes.

I was a little late discovering the series, but I was obsessed immediately. My friends and I identified ourselves as the characters we closest resembled (I was Carrie, duh), we had SATC marathons, did the weekend meal thing, and of course, bought the movie package that came with a tshirt (I still have and wear mine).

Those fabulous ladies bestowed some brilliant life lessons on me and I’m here today to share them with you. You’re so welcome, in advance.

I know it should go without saying, but you wouldn’t believe the number of women who can’t wrap their minds around the concept of hoes before bros. The fabulous foursome never let the men in their lives interfere with their friendship. Of course there was the occasional squabble about douche bag exes, namely Big. But they never lasted long because the friendship always came first.

Which leads us to always being honest with your girls, even when the truth isn’t easy. Sometimes your friends really need to be told when the dude in their life is a loser. Or when they are acting a little bit pathetic over a guy. Or even when they need to spend less time with the Rabbit, ahem Charlotte.

Choose the nice guy, for the love of God, choose the nice guy. I know it didn’t work out this way in the movies, but lets get real, this is where the ball was dropped. Carrie should have chosen Aidan. The nice guy won’t have you as his mistress, or let you get caught in his apartment by his wife. The nice guy doesn’t stand you up at your own wedding. No, the nice guy forgives your indiscretions, buys the apartment next to yours, and refinishes your floors.

Sometimes you just need to embrace your singleness. Spend time with the girls, enjoy being able to do the things you love whenever it suits you. And use the space to find yourself. One of the wisest things Carrie ever said was, “the most exciting, challenging, and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that’s just fabulous.”

Lastly, the most important thing you should take away from this post is that pre-marital sex is a good thing. You can’t tell if a guy has issues “getting it up” just by looking at him. So don’t marry him without taking him for a test drive first. Otherwise you run the risk of finding yourself your very own Trey McDougall.

I know, so much wisdom for one post. I told you you’d be thanking me.
Have a fabulous day!

A Rant and a Rave

I guess I should start by saying that I had a wonderfully relaxing weekend at the cabin with my parents. So wonderful in fact that I didn’t take a single picture. Also, pretty sure you don’t give a rat’s ass what I look like flaked out on the couch watching Four Weddings (and mentally planning my future nuptials) with my mom. Plus there was zero cell service I didn’t bother to keep the trusty iPhone charged. And as you know around these part no phone = no camera therefore no pictures.

Since my return to cell service and internet aka civilization Sunday evening, I’ve been a little perturbed about a few things.

Pretty Little Liars

Ezra is A

I know I’m a little late to this, but I just didn’t have a chance to watch the finale until Sunday night. And words cannot describe how I feel about this. Its just so wrong. I mean, how are they going to spin this? He can’t possibly be a good guy helping out the Liars. They did that last season with Toby. I’m a bit heartbroken. I really thought he loved Aria.

pointy ass nasty nails

Nasty Nails

I’ve got a few Facebook friends who are super in to make up and things, and a few are estheticians. Generally they post some pretty decent stuff. But the post that was staring me in the face bright and early Monday morning was down right foul. Seriously, here’s a trend that needs to die, like yesterday. Pointy nails just scream tranny hooker.  And while I don’t hate embellished nails, these are just gaudy and ridiculous especially since that thumb nail looks half an inch thick.

50 shades of disappointment
50 Shades of Disappointment

Remember when Christian Grey was a hottie? Yeah, I do too. But obviously the people in charge of casting the 50 Shades of Grey movie missed that tiny detail when they read the books, or the chose not to bring that aspect of the novel to life on the big screen, cause this dude, Charlie Hunman, is fierce in all the wrong ways. I’ve been waiting with anticipation for months to finally find out who would be cast for this series, and its been the biggest let down of the year. Not even joking. Don’t think I’ll be lining up for hours at the theatre to see these two get it on.

Enough negativity for one post. I’ve got exciting news. My sponsor page is up and running! There’s still a little work to do, but its totally operational. There’s lots of options for ad space and guest posts. And there’s pretty good bang for your buck if I do say so myself. I’m more than open to ad swapping if any of you are interested in that.

To celebrate this momentous occasion the first ten people to email me at adventuresofkathryn@outlook.com will get a free Prada ad spot for September!

And don’t forget to enter the Mega Ad Space Giveaway for your chance to win a free Christian Louboutin ad spot and  ad space on 10 other blogs plus a gift card to Starbucks!
