Never the Bridesmaid

At 26, I have yet to have many people I’m close to get married. In fact, I’ve really only had one friend, and two cousins get hitched. Which might seem kinda strange if you spend much time around the blog world, because so many bloggers seem to get married young, and by the time they’re my age, they’ve been married a few years, with a bunch of married friends.
Anyways, with my lack of married comrades it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that I’ve never been a bridesmaid before. And I super excited that I get to be one in two weddings in the next year. Its probably not the type of thing that should make someone giddy, but I can’t help it. Helping pick out dresses and shoes and bling. Seriously, what shopaholic/wanna be fashionista wouldn’t be excited?
The first wedding is happening in December, and since the date was only set last week, there’s a ton of stuff to figure out right away. So last night I made a trip to the mall, strictly for research purposes, of course. And it inspired the following…

The only instructions/information I’ve been given about the wedding so far is that the colors are red, black, and silver, and that I can pick my own dress but it has to be black.
one. I found this dress at Le Chateau. And I loved it. It fit me perfectly. Its form fitting, shows a little leg, but the top of the dress is still winter appropriate (I feel like a strapless dress just wouldn’t look right for that time of year). My only complaint, is that its a bit long (I’d like it to be just above the knee) and it doesn’t fit as tight around the bottom as it appears to in this picture. $190 is a lot to spend on a dress for someone else’s wedding, especially if you’ll never wear it again. So I’m hoping to convince the next wedding’s bride to go with this dress too. Then it won’t seem like such an expensive purchase.

two. I love the idea of adding a little color. And these deep red shoes would fit the bill perfectly. Sky high heels and pointy toes are my fav. They are the prettiest color, but the price is a bit steep, so if I get the go ahead for red, I’ll have to find a cheaper alternative.

three. If Debrah doesn’t love the idea of red shoes. I could settle for nice pair of black leather ones. These are platforms, which I like (and they’re Louboutins, which I love) but I love the style of red ones a bit better. But if they’re black, I’d rather the material of these instead of patent leather. If money was no option, I’d own a dozen Louboutins.

four. The dress screams for the hair to be up, and for there to be some blingy drop earrings. Either of these options would be good. (I could be convinced to go bigger though.)

five. Can’t leave my wrist out. It needs a little frosting too. And this pretty bracelet would do the job well.

Have you ever been a bridesmaid or are you in the same boat as me?
