Maxi-mum Style. Maxi-mum Comfort.

Therapy Thursday

I’m anxiously awaiting some continuous good weather. And with warm weather comes shorts, and tanks, and wonderful dresses. I took me a while to come around to the maxi dress trend. But I should have tried one on sooner, because they are wonderful. Stylish and comfortable, two features that rarely go together in fashion. I only have one maxi dress in my closet, and I can’t wait to add a few more.
one. I love this one because its bright and playful. And of course I’m a huge fan of the chevron pattern. Its adorable, and could be worn to the beach or to dinner.
two. I’ve always been a fan of black and white stripes. And this dress has a wonderful casual feel to it.
three. I’m super into the mostly solid top and patterned skirt. Its a nice contrast. And this one has a less casual feel about it.
four. This one makes me swoon, the colors, the chevron. I want it.
five. I really like the look of a belted maxi. It takes the outfit up a notch. Casual yet refined is a look I can really get behind.

I’m stealing this idea from Erin

PS. This is a scheduled post because while you’re reading this, I’m taking advantage of the fact that my coworker is on vacation and rearranging & decluttering the office (I should totally do a before and after) because she won’t let me. Yes, you read that right. I wait for her to go on vacation, and overhaul the office, and do all the things she won’t let me do when she’s around. Hope she said goodbye to all of the things she has hoarded hahaha.

So, without further ado, currently I am…

Eating: Leftover pepperoni, bacon, and ground beef pizza from Pizza Delight.

Drinking: Gin & Tonic with Lime

Purchasing: Nadda. Because I’m saving my money for my trip to St. John’s this weekend. And you better believe I have a “little” bit of shopping planned for while I’m there.
Looking forward to: The above mentioned trip to St. John’s for some girl time with these ladies.
Watching: Monday’s episode of Switched at Birth. Yay for PVR!
Loving: Little Miss Momma’s Love Story. Pretty sure reading it was what actually inspired me to try this blogging thing for real.
Listening to: Can’t Stop – Miley Cyrus
Reading: Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns by Lauren Weisberger. I loved The Devil Wears Prada so I squealed a little when I seen this one on the shelves. Hoping they make it a movie as well.
Craving: A pint of Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked. And I’d eat alllll of it.
Feeling: Super lazy and exhausted from my run. The pouring rain outside doesn’t help my energy level.
Peacing out: Because of the being lazy and wanting to flake out on the couch.

Ceeelllebrate Good Times, Come On!

It may have taken a looong time, and it definitely seemed like the day would never come, but I graduated from college on Friday with a diploma in Business Administration – Human Resource Management.

I had zero intentions of participating in the grad ceremony, because well its only college and a diploma, which is not quite as big a deal as graduating from a university with a degree. And because, I’m twenty-freakin-six, wouldn’t people think that I should I be passed the point of celebrating graduating from college. So I debated it for a while, and I came to the conclusion that I don’t give an eff what people think about how long this took me, or that its only a diploma. I’m super proud of the fact that I completed the program. And this may be the only time I graduate from post-secondary. So I’m gonna celebrate it.

My friend Julie and I waiting for the ceremony to start. Julie received a Medal of Excellence for her awesome grades. Super proud of her.
 My Nan and my Dad

My wonderful parents. Would never have been able to do it without their support.
 (financial or otherwise haha)

Pretty sure my Nan wondered if she’d live to see the day that I finished a program.

One of my favorite instructors, Andrea.
Julie and I
It was a wonderful day. I’m so glad I chose to participate.

How did you spend your weekend?

Adventures in Green Smoothie Land

This girl’s jeans have became waaaay tooo tight.

You know that fresh from the dryer tightness that pants have? Well mine are that all day long as of late.

So after reading this post over at Little Miss Momma, I decided to jump on the green smoothie bandwagon. It can’t possibly hurt to try it out right? By having substituting two meals a day with smoothies I’m making sure that I have lots of fruits and veggies in my diet. There’s quite a few calories in a smoothie, but all good healthy calories.

I’m not good at following recipes. And I find it hard to find some of the ingredients that most recipes call for, like kale for instance. So, I made my own. I tossed in a few baby carrots, some broccoli and a bunch of spinach to start.

Then I popped open a few Raspberry Keytone pills and put their powder in. I’m not convinced that they work, but since I have them, they may as well get used. Just in case they are magical.

I like to use OJ as the liquid in my smoothies. And since I live in the land of perpetual crappy weather and rarely drink milk, I used Tropicana with calcium and vitamin D for good measure.

I blended all of that goodness up before I added anything else.

And then I added approx. 10 strawberries, some grapes, and half a kiwi. And it turned shyte brown. Seriously nasty looking. But it tasted pretty good. So, I did my best to drink it without looking at it. Cause looking at it makes me want to vomit a little.

It’s only been a few days, so its hard to really have anything to say about it. I haven’t had any of the stomach issues that so many people report. But I’m not gonna lie, its really hard to stick to having only a smoothie as a meal. I’m hungry again within an hour. And I haven’t lost any weight but I haven’t gained any either. So thats a good thing I guess.

Since I do get hungry after I have the smoothies, I’ve been needing to snack. I’ve been doing my best to keep those snacks healthy, and treat them as an opportunity to insert even more fruit into my diet. Like yummy peaches.
But, I caved once or twice and made myself some “nachos” with the new Tostitos Cantina chips, chives and cheese.
On a completely unrelated note, I’ve been making the drive to my hometown on the weekends so often lately, that people have been asking, “are you dating someone back there or something?” Unfortunately the answer is “no.” This girl has been man-friend free for quite some time.
I go home a lot because if I learned one thing while I lived across the country its how much it sucks to not be able to see your family very often. So ever since I moved back, I take advantage of the fact that they are only a three hour drive away, as often as I can. I do my best not to miss important things like birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, etc. With that said, I’m heading home again this weekend to spend some time with my favorite guy, my Dad.
Not the best picture of me. But it has my Daddy, so nbd.

Let’s not forget…

It’s #backthatazzup Friday!

The purpose: To start our weekend with some fantastic jams.
The station that inspired it: “Back That Azz Up” on Pandora Radio.
The rules: Link your jams up at I Wore Yoga Pants and have a jam sesh with all of us!

Happy Friday!
Pick your jam, link up and let’s get this weekend started off on the right foot!

I’ll be rockin’ out to some Hannah Montana on the drive home.

Therapy Thursday Graduation Edition

Therapy Thursday

Next Friday is my graduation, and for some crazy reason I completely forgot that I’ll be needing an cute outfit to wear. Usually I’m dying for an excuse to buy new clothes.

One and Two. I’m hoping to go for a sophisticated look and either of these dresses would be a great piece to start with.

Three. This clutch would work with either dress because of its classic color and shape.

Four. These anchor earrings are adorable and understated. They would go great with an updo.

Five. If I go with a black dress a statement necklace would be a great way to add a punch of color.

Six. Loving this bow bangle. Its too cute.

Seven. These booties add some height and a little “somethin somethin.” They could go with either dress.

Eight. Love the classic look of these peep toes and the color is very summery. They would look great with a black dress.

Nine. Shoes are a great way to add a punch of color to an outfit. Red shoes would look fantastic with a black dress.

Ten. These earrings would go great with either dress no matter what hairstyle I choose.

There’s a party goin’ on right here

This weekend was anything but relaxing. It was enjoyable though.

Saturday was crazy. I spent the afternoon at my monsters birthday party! They had a blast. And the food was yummy.

The Birthday boy!

Momma and her two birthday girls. Loving the cupcakes.

Love this face!

Enjoying his new chair.

Look at those curls!

Such a cute idea.
Om nom nom. So yummy!
Saturday night we celebrated my friend Megan’s birthday. Lots of pictures were taken, but all on her camera. So I’ll have to share those another time.
Sunday I got to visit with my cousin Amanda and her precious little man.
All in all it was an exhausting but great weekend.

“Give A Girl the Right Shoes, and She Can Conquer the World.”

Marilyn Monroe was one smart lady. But how is a girl to know what shoes are the right ones? I’d hate to think I owned the wrong pair. For that reason I like to err on the side of caution, and buy a lot of them.

Therapy Thursday - Shoe Edition

A great pair of shoes can take an outfit to a whole new level. They’re the best accessory. I’m loving the above styles right now.

One. I’ve been wanting a pair of metal toed shoes. I love the color of these. They’d be a great way to add a pop of color with a little bit of sophisticated edge.

Two. I’ve wanted this exact pair of Michael Antonio’s for a few years. I love that they have just a little bit of edge to them.

Three. I want to own a pair of shoes in every color. No joke. I don’t own purple yet. And I love the shade of these. They’ve got a real “wow” factor.

Four. These are adorable. And are so sophisticated and classy. A great way to dress up an outfit. Love.

Five. I love high heel boots. I’ve got a few pairs, but of course they’re black. Sometimes brown would be better though.

Six. Color Blocking at its finest. I’m loving the neon and grey combo. Perfect for summer.

Seven. I ‘ve never been able to walk in wedges. Its time to learn. And these are cute enough to motivate me.

Eight. I wear my Bobs more often than I’d like to admit. If I’m going to be dressing casual, it may as well be cute casual right? Hot pink Toms would fit the bill.

Nine & Ten. I was unsure of this style of sandal for a while. Some that I’ve seen have looked a little too old ladyish for my liking. But these are great cause of the bright colors. I chose two different pairs of these because of the different heel heights and strap sizes.

My Freakin’ Weekend

Even though its taken me a few days to blog about it, I had an awesome weekend. It was pretty chill. And I got to spend it with some great people.

Friday I hung out with Rosalie and Victoria. We watched Glee and I dyed Rosa’s hair.

Saturday was spent being super lazy. I slept in and watched tv. I spent the evening at Pete and Suzanne’s with the extended fam jam. We were treated to homemade Thai and Greek pizza. Yum! I had the most adorable face sitting next to me. And enjoyed some rootbeer in a Guinness glass.

It was Oli’s cousin’s birthday. So he gave her a bunch of cupcakes. But I’m pretty sure they were mostly for him. He licked the icing off the candle and then dug right into the mini cupcakes.

Eventually he decided that mini cupcakes just weren’t cutting it and devoured a big one. Looks to me like he just couldn’t get enough. Seriously though, isn’t that face the cutest.
I even got to spend some quality cuddle time with my little buddy Jesse who’s five months old and still so tiny. And look at those big eyes! He’s such a pleasant little guy. I kinda wanted to steal him.

After supper I hung out with my friend George. We grabbed milkshakes at McD’s and did loser laps around town in his car. That is until the King of Pranks spotted a friends car at a hotel and decided to have a little fun. Vaseline under the door handles lead to a sticky situation for Deborah and Terrence in the morning 🙂
Sunday was Victoria’s 10th birthday. So we had a BBQ and yummy cake. She’s a kid who’s like a little old woman, so I gave her a cute little tea pot for David’s Tea, and some Red Velvet tea for her to try. And I did a pretty good job with the gift wrapping if I do say so myself.
I finished off the weekend by watching Letters to Juliet for the first time. Loved it!
